Back in 1972, after a pair of breeding Montagu Harries were spotted in the reeds, the RSPB acquired the marshes around Titchwell and has since turned them into one of the most popular bird reserves in Norfolk.

This reserve attracts many birds including waders and dabbling duck and it is possible to walk out beyond the reserve straight onto the wide, sandy beaches.
