Salthouse
The salt marsh landscape around Salthouse lies within the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the North Norfolk Heritage Coast.
The name of the village comes from the once valuable commodity of Salt. To produce salt, sea water was boiled in clay vessels with the salt formed into blocks of a standard weight and measure. Much evidence of this activity can be found along this stretch of the coast, along with evidence of Neolithic occupation in the area.
